Reviews for the Mystique

The Le Boat trip was unlike any vacation we had had before! And what a great experience! All staff and personnel involved were more than cordial and helpful before and during the trip. Traveling down the canal was so relaxing and gave us all the opportunity to unwind from the hectic events of everyday life. Going through locks took teamwork and you definitely want gloves! But once you get the hang of it, it is no problem. Each day we would overnight at a village along the way. We loved exploring the small villages and found them and their residents quite charming. We spoke a little French and they spoke a little English so we got along just fine. There are markets, like small grocery stores, in most villages, so you could buy food and supplies along the way. And we loved going to the bakery each day and getting fresh croissants for breakfast. Those, along with fruit, cheese and wine - what more could you want! And the weather was absolutely perfect - beautiful sunny days, quite breezy from time to time, with low humidity. Coming from Georgia, that is what we call "perfect"!
The Mystique was the perfect size for three adult couples. Each cabin had its own bathroom, but you must remember that you are in close quarters, so don't expect a lot of "privacy". It may be similar to camping in a motor home: it has the basic conveniences of home, but on a small scale. We were quite comfortable and we all got along well which certainly helps! I can see that spending seven days on this trip with the wrong people could be a nightmare! The boat was fully supplied with a reasonably sized refridgerator with a freeze to make ice. However, we did buy ice each day in the villages. There was a French press to make coffee each morning and a gas stove and oven for cooking or boiling water. The ladies were concerned about drying their hair, but someone in our party had purchased a European hairdryer so we had no problem. A large umbrella was furnished, but we rarely used it due to the breezy weather. Besides, the bright sun felt so good!
Lovely canal, interesting locks and friendly lock keepers. Good time of year - weather good, canal not busy. Boat very nice, and in very good nick. Very little hassle. Staff friendly, and competent. Beautiful little towns close to the canal. Nice to cycle along the canal - rent the cycles, which were good for rentals.
very nice boat, well maintained, very good condition. Front cabin with on-suite nice and roomy, and could get my 6'5'' easily into the bed. lounge comfy, DVD player a bit ropey (maybe it was the DVDs). 2 rear cabins small, with small shower/toilets, but all working well. Nice hot showers. Small issue - there is an engine master switch in a cupboard in the one rear bedroom, and when a suitcase was placed in the cupboard, it left the engine completely dead. But 1 phone call rectified it within a minute.
Wonderful being on the boat again, food in the region was the best. Great flying into Lyon because we could shop at Le Halles before we boarded boat. Reception at Branges was excellent compared to Narbonne reception and departure at Gray was equally impressive and smooth unlike the Trebes base. We had great response to mechanical issues also.
Boat was comfortable for just the two of us, we had a Mystique three cabin one with a main bedroom and bathroom. I had ordered the one with two cabins but you changed it to a three cabin one which was not as nice! The 2nd and 3rd bathroom floods the entire floor when showering which is annoying, especially as we did not order this boat.Fridge is far too small for a boat that size and water pressure is poor compared to the Vision 4.
The boat was brilliant..We booked a smaller boat, but was offered the Mystique 4..Quite a big boat for 2, but with our experience it was not a problem..The Midi is always an experience. We went here first time in 94, and came back 10 times since..I cannot say what is most memorable, all of the french waterways are memorable..In the beginning we came here with 3 generations in 2 boats, but the last 3 years was only wife and I...we did most of the waterways, but Midi is the best..even with less trees to come..
Perfect, really perfect..sitting on rooftop with the built-in barbecue, wow!!! The mystique 4 is the best boat ever.
