Reviews for the Shannon Star
portumna all around lough derg , stunning , great villages , great people
we allways get the shannon star for space , ect , fab boat when driveing up top, only neg is engin is noisy when driveing inside..
Saw plenty of beautiful scenery, history and met friendly, colourful characters. We ate well, both out in local restaurants and on the boat. Certainly the tranquility of our trip was helped by the varying weather conditions and our conscious effort to limit our use of mobile phones.
Everything was perfect including the fact our tv didn't work. We tried an old human entertainment system instead, good conversation!
Myself and my friends rented two boats from Le Boat , this was the second time we done such a thing. The boats as always are in good condition and staff v helpful before departure . Renting a boat on the Shannon is such a good experience because you get to stop off at all the villages on your journey which all seem to be friendly and welcoming. In the summer there are many mini festivals and events on just search web or call local tourism offices so you can plan out your journey . On both occasions we had a memorable time with great laughs and hope to return in 2014!!
Mattresses were a little flat , could do with changing them .
Great time had, cruised down river and back up again. Good fun stags weekend (3 nights)
Great for 4 to 5 single men. any more than that would be too many on one boat. of course numbers can increase if have couples and/or children. basically 2 double bedrooms, one twin bedroom (2 single beds), a single room and the seating area turns into another double bed. but saying that you wouldn't want 4 couples on the boat, it'd be way too crowded when cruising during the day.
worst experience of my life, we went on our cruise in April, the windows on the boat were broken and rain kept coming on top of kids in bed, this was in all rooms, even with heating on the boat was freezing, we booked a five night cruise and had to give up after one night as the kids hated it, complained to lady in office at carrick on shannon and she really didnt care to listen to us will never use emerald star again
windows broken rain leeking in on kids as they slept in their beds freezing at night time even with heating on
