Venice, arguably the world’s most beautiful water city, is just six hours gentle cruising from our base at Casier. Steeped in history, art, culture and romance you cannot fail to be seduced by this land of La Dolce Vita.
Mooring at one of the public berths on the nearby islands, a water taxi will whisk you over to the heart of Venice in minutes, leaving you free to soak up the culture of this wonderful city. Visit St. Mark’s Square with its incredible Basilica di San Marco and golden mosaic interior. Hire a gondola for a ride on the Grand Canal, passing under the famous Rialto Bridge and admire the magnificent architecture of the imposing Palazzo Ducale which dominates the waterfront.
The Venice Lagoon has more than 80 islands to explore, so there is always plenty to see and do. See glass-blowers in action on the historic island of Murano, watch the lacemakers on Burano and visit the imposing cathedral on Torcello. The rivers and canals around the lagoon offer something different again. The spring water River Sile winds its way through the countryside past attractive villages all the way to charming Treviso, an amazing city full of Italian art, museums and restaurants. Follow the River Brenta to Padova alongside elegant summer houses and villas belonging to the Italian nobility.
Italian seaside resorts on the Adriatic side of the Lagoon have something for everyone; Jesolo with its 11 km of fine beaches is just a short distance from Venice and is a perfect place to relax in the sunshine.
The beautiful Po Delta nature reserve is a three hour cruise to the south of Venice and best served by our base at Porto Levante. This vast nature reserve offers peaceful cruising and beautiful scenery – a perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of Venice. Visit the world-famous fish market at Chioggia and treat yourself at one of this tiny port’s fabulous seafood restaurants.
