Soaring cathedrals never cease to please the eye, and they create a spectacle of beauty at the edge of canals.
Reviews for the The Cathedrals Cruise
We enjoyed the cathedral at Sens. The bed and breakfast for lunch at Port Yonne. Half the crew enjoyed running the boat. I was overall happy with the locale, but concerned about the frequent electrical problems. Our first one happen right after the first lock and we were dead in the water. Threw the anchor in order to not drift into the bridge ahead.
I would recommend a point to point trip; not a round trip.
We started on Canal du Bourgogne because the river was closed due to some flooding. The canal was nice, but as soon as we got word, we doubled back and went south on the river to Auxerre. This part of the river is beautiful, and the villages more vibrant.
Definitely spend some time in Auxerre - it's a beautiful town with many cathedrals, gorgeous old winding streets, plenty of shopping and facilities. Also some fabulous restaurants. We enjoyed having the bicycles on board so we could go exploring, or just enjoy riding on the tow-paths.
