Get creative with Lego on a Thames boating holiday

Tuesday 29 September 2009

Those planning to take their children on boating holidays on the River Thames could do so next year when the annual Lego brick building event is held at Legoland in Windsor.

The theme park has confirmed that over three million Lego bricks will arrive at the family attraction next season for children and their parents to get creative and construct their own models.

Among them will be the bricks that made up James May's Lego house, which was unfortunately too large to be transported to the park to go on show. Instead, it was taken apart and the bricks will be used in the next building event.

Martin Williams, sales and marketing director at Legoland, said: "Our large-scale building events are always extremely popular with guests of all ages.

"This year hundreds of families helped build two giant mosaics featuring Bob the Builder and J.K. Rowling."

Those cruising along the waterways on a River Thames boat break could moor up in Windsor and spend a day at Legoland, either when the next brick building event gets underway or earlier if they are planning a late break this year.

It is home to numerous rides and attractions, including the Jungle Coaster, Laser Raiders and Xbox 360 Gaming Zone.

Cruises on the River Thames are available from the bases at Benson and Chertsey.
