Visit beautiful gardens on an Alsace-Lorraine boat break

Wednesday 10 June 2009

Holidaymakers enjoying a river boat cruise in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France this summer can visit some beautiful gardens along the border with Germany.

The Gardens without Limits project has been set up to help tourists navigate the wide variety of scenic parks and green spaces in the region.

They include traditional gardens, modern parks and vast fields filled with an array of flora and fauna for visitors to enjoy.

Many of them are located in the Saarland area in Germany, which holidaymakers can cruise through during their Alsace-Lorraine boating holiday.

Saarland is an attractive place for water sports enthusiasts as well as keen horticulturists, with a variety of wet pursuits on offer.

Boat breaks in Alsace-Lorraine are available from the cruise bases at Hesse, Boofzheim and Saarbrucken.

Other highlights of a holiday in the region may include a visit to the Franco-German city of Strasbourg, which has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site.
