Celebrate the Chasselas Grape Festival in Aquitaine

Tuesday 09 June 2009

Families enjoying a boating holiday in the Aquitaine region of France this September can head to Moissac to celebrate the annual Chasselas Grape Festival.

According to What's on When, the town comes together every year during the month to hold numerous competitions and wine tasting sessions.

The event is free to attend, so holidaymakers cruising along the Aquitaine waterways could moor up in the city and sample some of the produce.

Chasselas grapes are used in a variety of French wines and are known for their lightness and fruitiness.

While in Moissac, holidaymakers could spend time exploring the Abbey of Saint Peter with its famous cloister and porch.

Other highlights of a boating holiday in Aquitaine may include shopping in local markets, where specialities such as foie gras and truffles are on offer.

There are also numerous restaurants offering excellent food and fine Bordeaux wines such as St Emilion and Margaux.

Cruises are available from the bases at Le Mas d'Agenais, Montauban and Condom.
