Theme park fun on a French boating holiday

Monday 18 May 2009

Families planning a boating holiday in France may wish to consider the Aquitaine region, where they can enjoy a day of thrills and spills at the Walibi Aquitaine.

The theme park, located close to the town of Agen, is open until October and boasts numerous rides and attractions for children and adults.

These include rollercoasters, carousels, river rapids and slides, as well as several shows, shops and restaurants.

Adrenaline junkies can opt for a ride on the double loop coaster Boomerang or the Zig Zag runaway mine train, while the Beetle Coaster, the Drakkar log flume and the Radja River rapids provide entertainment for all the family.

There is also plenty for smaller children in the shape of the Walibi Express train, the Water Maze and the Tam Tam Tour boat trip, which takes riders though a tropical forest.

Boating holidays in Aquitaine are available from the cruise bases at Le Mas d'Agenais, Montauban and Condom.

Those visiting in July or August could stop off in Agen to enjoy some live music during the Soirs d'Ete festival.

According to What's on When, the two-month event features a large programme of open-air concerts.
