Burgundy boating holidays 'perfect for foodies'

Saturday 27 June 2009

Food lovers will enjoy a boating holiday in the Burgundy region of France, according to one travel journalist.

In an article for the Telegraph on European cruising, Burgundy is described as the "gastronomic heart" of France.

The newspaper claims the region is "bursting with gourmet restaurants to tempt boating enthusiasts onto dry land".

It points out that there is a wide range of landscapes and terrains for holidaymakers to explore.

And it also states that Burgundy is an attractive place for cyclists and bird lovers, who will find plenty to observe along the waterways.

Boating holidays in Burgundy are available from the cruise bases at Branges, Gray, Fontenoy le Chateau and St Jean de Losne.

Writing for the Attleboro Sun Chronicle recently, Linda Fasteson said Burgundy is renowned for its gastronomic delights.

Tourists could visit the city of Dijon, where Dijon mustard originated, tour world famous vineyards or enjoy gourmet cuisine in Michelin-starred restaurants.
