Combine a beach break with a boating holiday in Camargue

Thursday 11 June 2009

Families who are never content with just doing one type of activity on their holiday should head to the Camargue region of France.

Here, they can enjoy a cruise along the area's picturesque waterways and also spend some time relaxing on the beach.

La Grande Motte is one of the many beach resorts along the southern coast of France and has been awarded a European Blue Flag every year thanks to the quality of the water, which is great for swimming in.

It is also great for children, since there are qualified lifeguards in attendance and the beach itself slopes gently down to the sea.

Water sports enthusiasts can try their hand at windsurfing at the dedicated centre, while jetskis are also available for hire.

Camargue could also be perfect for boating holidays with dogs, as there is a special doggy beach at La Grande Motte where man's best friend is always welcome.

Tourists can also spend time exploring the inland areas of Camargue on a boat break in the region, perhaps enjoying some wildlife spotting in the Etang de Thau.

Boating holidays in Camargue are available from the bases at Port Cassafieres, Beaucaire, Homps and St Gilles.
