Dance in the streets in Cognac

Sunday 31 May 2009

Holidaymakers heading off to the Charente region of France for a family boat break this October could stop off in Cognac to enjoy some lively entertainment.

From 14th to 21st, the annual Les Eclats Choregraphiques Dance Festival will be taking place, with performances held across the town.

Many will be staged outdoors, bringing a celebratory atmosphere to the streets.

Families can catch some of the performances as they stroll through Cognac, while keen dancers can learn more abut the art by chatting to some of the choreographers involved in the event.

Those heading to the region in September instead of October will also be treated to some street entertainment when the Coup de Chauffre is held on 4th and 5th.

According to What's on When, the event features jugglers, dancers, musicians and clowns who put in various shows for the crowds.

Cognac is well known for its infamous tipple and tourists mooring up to explore the town could take a guided tour of one of its distilleries.

Boating holidays in Charente are available from the cruise base at Jarnac.
