On September 4th and 5th, the annual Coup de Chauffre will be taking place in the town, attracting street performers from across the region.
According to What's on When, clowns, jugglers, acrobats, dancers and musicians will take to Cognac's cobbled streets to put on shows for the gathered crowds.
The free event will be staged on each day, from mid-afternoon into the night.
This means holidaymakers could explore the town in the morning - perhaps enjoying a guided tour of one of its famous distilleries - before watching the performances in the evening.
Families can visit Cognac as they cruise along the waterways of the Charente region. Charente boating holidays are available from the base at Jarnac.
They can also stop off in Saint Brice to visit its castle or explore the Roman ruins at Saintes before heading to the maritime museums at Rochefort.
