According to thetravelmagazine.net, people are now looking for something a bit different when it comes to their breaks, and a boating holiday in France could offer just that.
Sharron Livingston, editor of the website, explained: "Culture, adventure, activity and learning holidays offer time-out with a feeling of having done something worthwhile."
She also noted how such experiences can provide visitors with plenty of great material for "after dinner conversation".
Her comments come following a report by CV travel, which suggested British travellers are now much more interested in personal fulfilment than conspicuous consumption.
Some 68 per cent of those questioned said they plan to holiday in the EU this year, while most are placing value above cheapness when choosing a location.
Those hoping to enjoy France boat holidays can explore the river Lot, the Canal du Midi, the Camargue or many other areas of the country, including the waters around Brittany, Burgundy and the Loire valley.
