It may be called Le Dog de Charlotte, but there is no reason not to take this Chardonnay from Tuchan seriously, according to the Risk Collective.
Writing for the website, wine connoisseur Roz Cooper explained that the wine is "emphatically not a dog", despite its name.
Languedoc is the largest single wine-producing area in the world, but this offering still manages to stand out from the crowd, thanks in part to its affordable price tag and fun character.
"Best of all, it tastes fresh, fragrant and attractive, with that 'meadow grass' scent of quality Chardonnay and none of the heavy oiliness often associated with wines from the so-called New World," Ms Cooper wrote.
"It has a delicate finish which deserves understated food to accompany."
She added that it can best be enjoyed as part of a light lunch, something that Midi boat holidaymakers may find at the seafood restaurants of Port la Nouvelle.
Canal boat hire on the Midi can be launched from Castelnaudary and Narbonne, among other destinations.
