Discover Amsterdam's 'rich history'

Monday 30 March 2009

Those planning boating holidays in Holland and adding a trip to Amsterdam to their itinerary may wish to discover the city's "rich history" while they are there.

According to an article written for Best Syndication News, Amsterdam's museums are some of its top cultural attractions.

The Rijksmuseum is home to a vast collection of historic Dutch art, with Rembrandt's the Night Watch one of its major works.

Next door, the Van Gogh Museum boasts the largest collection of the artist's paintings anywhere in the world.

Holidaymakers visiting this summer can see a unique exhibition of Van Gogh works titled Van Gogh and the colours of the night, which features paintings such as Starry Night.

Carrying on their historical journey through Amsterdam, tourists could visit Rembrandtshuis, where the painter lived from 1639 until 1656.

And no history buff could stay in Amsterdam without entering the house of Anne Frank, which is situated on Prinsengrach.

Boating holidays in Holland are available from the bases at Strand Horst and Sneek.
