Taking part on Wednesday July 26th at Dubarry Park in Athlone, the All Ireland Marching Band Championships are likely to draw large crowds.
In addition to the main contest, there will also be a parade through the town.
Those who cannot make the championships will be able to enjoy a lunchtime concert in the civic square the week before.
It will feature a 125-strong band from Canada who will be touring Ireland during the summer months.
Tourists can stop off in Athlone to enjoy the entertainment during a boating holiday in Ireland. Cruises are available from the bases at Portumna, Belturbet and Carrick-on-Shannon.
Other events taking place in Athlone this summer include the Tri Athlone Tri Fest on Saturday July 18th.
Holidaymakers could take part in the event or simply moor up in the town to cheer on the participants.
