Lough Erne 'an angler's paradise'

Tuesday 30 June 2009

Lough Erne in Northern Ireland has been described as an "angler's paradise" by one journalist who spent time fishing in the area.

In an article for the Manchester Evening News, David Birtill said Lough Erne is a "truly magnificent" stretch of water.

He said that like most of the lakes in Ireland, this particular one is teeming with fish of all varieties, with both game and coarse specimens.

Mr Birtill's view is shared by other keen anglers who have fished in Ireland and found it to be a perfect place to cast out.

In an article for the Mirror, the country's rivers and lakes were described as "superb natural mixed fisheries".

Mr Birtill said that as well as being a great location for fishermen, Lough Erne is also popular with golfers, who come to play on the championship courses located on its edges.

Aspiring anglers and golfing enthusiasts can enjoy both activities during a boating holiday in Ireland. Cruises are available from the bases at Portumna, Belturbet and Carrick-on-Shannon.
