Try the Nevis Red mountain bike route on a Scottish boating holiday

Saturday 27 June 2009

Mountain bike enthusiasts planning a boating holiday in Scotland may be pleased to hear that a new trail has now opened in the Highlands.

According to Bike Radar, it is situated just north of Fort William near the World Cup downhill track and shares the same gondola life to the top.

The Nevis Red trail has a 543-metre descent and is more than 5.5 kilometres in length along a wide single track.

Its terrain is described as steep, rugged and tough, while the surface of the trail is a mixture of timber boardwalk, bedrock, gravel and rock gardens.

Features such as gap jumps, berms and drops make the route an exciting one for even the most experienced of cyclists.

Those eager to try out the Nevis Red trail can do so during a boating holiday in Scotland. Cruises are available from the base at Laggan.

Other routes in the area include the Witch's Trail, which is renowned for being the most technical course in the Nevis mountain range.ADNFCR-2080-ID-19236610-ADNFCR
