I will never forget the trips from the base of Hesse in France. On the Marne-Rhine Canal, you pass through two long tunnels by boat and the boat lift at Arzviller! Dozens of boaters watched us from their decks as we drove in this oversized tub. Later that evening we moored in the idyllic village of Lutzelbourg and had a barbecue again. I especially enjoyed the merguez sausages which are made of lamb and are a local specialty.
But most charming of all: that evening, I was surprised by my best friend, Reglisse, the dog of my owner’s brother. His family was on their way to visit their French relatives and visited us for a night on board. That was beautiful: the Life of Riley!
The next day, I then worked off the extra calories walking on the bike paths along the canal. "
