On our final day of the cruise we began the day by shopping in Windsor before cruising down to Runneymede which took 2 hours and we went through 2 locks.
We moored in Runneymede and walked across the meadow to the Magna Carta and JFK memorials. We learnt about English history and walked on American soil as the land that the JFK memorial sits on was given to the USA as a present from the UK.
We then cruised for a few minutes before stopping at the Runneymede Hotel. While you can’t see how much it has to offer from the outside, inside you will find a spa, swimming pools, tennis courts, gym and several restaurants and cafes. We ate lunch from the buffet before relaxing in the lounge area.
Afterwards we cruised for another hour and through 1 lock before mooring up in Penton Hook Marina at Chertsey and leaving for Gatwick Airport.
We were sad to say goodbye to our boat and can't wait to tell everyone about what we saw and did. We will definitely be returning! If you are thinking of cruising the Thames and have any questions, give our sales team a call and ask for myself (Pierre) or Humphrey, as now we know the Thames inside out!
