Reviews for the The Classic Nivernais Cruise
Orientation session was painless, pleasant and practical. Maps, guides and information in hard copy format was extensive and enormously helpful. Recommended itinerary was terrific. The return of equipment process at the end of our journey was fast, friendly and efficient. This company delivered all that it promised.
The boat was everything we hoped for. A week before we went someone from LeBoat phoned us to say that because of floods it was very unlikely we could do the planned trip from Migennes to Tannay. This was good customer relations, because although there was nothing that could be done about it, it would have been very disappointing to find out when we arrived. On our first night on the boat a member of the party fell and sustained a serious leg injury. We had to return to Migennes to get him back in his car, and the base staff were very helpful.
As above. We're going again next year with LeBoat.
I travelled with my husband. He had some boating experience from more than 30 years ago. I had none. We were keen to combine seeing lesser known parts of Burgundy with a canal boat experience. We wanted a relaxing holiday.
Our cruise took us to larger towns and tiny villages. We loved them all! The boat gave us flexibility to stop where we wanted. We varied our evenings between eating in local restaurants and cooking on board using produce from some of the markets we encountered. We loved saying ' bonjour,' to every other boater, cyclist and lock keeper we came across. We really enjoyed our end of the day drinks on deck - we felt we had earnt it after a work out on the locks during the day. We loved the glorious countryside, pastoral scenes, villages and some chateau. The bird life around the canal is extraordinary.
Lunch with visiting friends, on the boat, in the autumn sun.....
Enjoyed the canal very much...... quaint villages, relaxed pace. Two couples would have been preferable, to simplify boat handling in the locks.
The boat was a bit old and tired. Most things worked except for the heater. There was a problem with an alarm on the 110v charging system which was very annoying and we did not know how to fix. The steering on the boat was very sensitive and we could not relax when motoring.
